A job listing is a representation of yourself as well.
This company is so lovable:
“Sparkart isn’t a design firm. It’s like one in some ways, but we’re deeply interested in technology and business on top of the pretty pictures. You won’t find us working for ballet companies and sugared water makers, but you will find us working for bona fide magicians, sweaty rock stars, Courtney Love, bounty hunters, guys that wear cowboy hats, girls that wear cowboy boots, kids that rap about mathematics, a nationwide fashion retail empire, and 265-pound face destroyers. If that last sentence didn’t convey the variety of projects we work on, then just take a look at our client list at Sparkart.com. But don’t be dismayed by all this non-design talk: we cram great design down our clients’ throats, whether they like it or not. Great design to us means content is king, function is more, and beautiful is best.
We’ve also built some very interesting software that lets us do big things on the web with very little. Take a close look at our sites to get an idea.
So, to the point: we’re hiring. That’s right, the economy be damned, we’re ready to expand.
We’re looking for an Interaction Designer. To us this means a person who is a great graphic designer but is drawn to the web and other interactive mediums because traditional media just doesn’t offer the same possibilities. It also means someone who eats their own dog food by writing their own HTML and CSS. That is, front-end development. We think designers that can move freely between the worlds of design and development make the best websites. If you’re more of a developer you’ll love to know that we’re all about Ruby on Rails, jQuery, XHTML Strict, and soon enough, HTML 5. If you have no idea what the previous 3 terms were, we’d love to teach you if you have the interest and drive.
On many web sites, graphic design often needs to take a backseat for a variety of reasons. But our clients demand something different because of who they are. Navigating the balance between entertainment, usability, technology, analytics informed to-the-pixel optimization, and progressive graphic design is our challenge.”
