A quick video of the new 37signals office. Aside from the architectural layout and vast amount of space, the use of texture throughout is inspiring.

I just voted for the Conduit by Stanley Saitowitz/Natoma Architects!
a little bit about Saitowitz: he used to teach at Cal, his firm is located in SF, and he’s a super awesome architect. I’ve met him a few times…during which he blatantly dissed the American architecture education for lack of internship opportunities and some sort of lead-in into the profession.
(So who wants to go to the Conduit with me :D?)

“According to the Forest Products Laboratory, a whole, unmilled tree can support 50 percent more weight than the largest piece of lumber milled from the same tree. Putting this principle into practice, Whole Tree Architecture is dedicated to building with materials that lumber companies consider scrap – weed trees, also know as ‘managed forest thinnings.’ The resulting projects are beautiful displays of locally sourced and sustainably managed materials.”
